Cleve and Sweet Mary Hattersley were founders of Austin’s historic band, Greezy Wheels. Pioneers of the “progressive country” movement in the 70s, Greezy Wheels served as the unofficial house band at the legendary Armadillo World Headquarters. Guitarist and writer Cleve and “fiddler extraordinaire” Mary led the group that, according to the Austin Chronicle’s Margaret Moser, “owned Austin back around 1974." Cleve and Mary discuss Austin music history, the evolution of the “Americana” genre, the controversy at Austin's KUT-FM (and the changing face of contemporary radio), and much more. They will also perform live for our audience.
